The younger brother of Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance has won his first race at Hamilton.
The Henry Dwyer-trained Heir To The Throne was having his seventh start on Monday when successful in the Trotters Coaches Maiden Plate (1600m).
The three-year-old had previously been placed at Sale and Geelong before stepping up in distance for two unplaced efforts at Caulfield.
At his previous outing he finished 14th of 16 runners in the Galilee Series Final (2400m) on April 14.
Dwyer bought Heir To The Throne for $200,000 at the Karaka Yearling Sale in New Zealand in early 2016, just months after Prince Of Penzance scored a famous win in the Melbourne Cup at Flemington.
The win was the first Cup success for trainer Darren Weir while Michelle Payne became the first female jockey to ride a Cup winner.
The Cup victory has prompted a movie, Ride Like A Girl, directed by acclaimed actress Rachel Griffiths and starring Teresa Palmer as Payne.
It is currently being filmed in Victoria.
