Richmond 1.30 v Essendon 3.60
TIP - Margin Richmond 1-39 @ 2.05
Four wins from their last five games now for the Tigers after making light work of the Suns in last weeks clash beating them 125-51 after dominating the affair from the off, Jack Riewoldt was the star kicking 10.6 for the Tigers in one of his best games for the club.
That win sees them maintain top spot on the ladder with only two games to go, a win here will almost certainly see them finish top and head into the finals as favourites.
The Bombers went into last weeks game against the Saints knowing only a victory would be good enough if they were to keep their slim finals hopes alive and they duly obliged beating their rivals 122-79.
With teams around them also losing the Bombers could well sneak into the top eight but they will need to win this one which is easier said than done against the team that sits top of the ladder with only four losses all season.
Verdict - The Tigers are playing some good footy as they have been all season and I expect them to end the Bombers finals hope for this season.

Collingwood 1.42 v Port Adelaide 2.90
TIP - Margin Collingwood 1-24 @ 3.15
After losing two on the spin it was imperative that the Pies got back to winning ways last week and they did just that beating the Lions 104-73 in front of a home crowd at the Etihad Stadium'
Collingwood too k a slender three point lead into the half time break but the Pies dominated the third term and maintained their advantage in the last quarter to take the spoils.
Port Adelaide after losing four out of their last five games slip down to 8th on the ladder and are in real danger of missing the finals all together if they cannot get back to winning ways.
Last week saw them lose at home against the Eagles 62-58 after they lead throughout the match until the dying minutes, that loss could well prove costly in a few weeks time.
Verdict - Both teams have struggled in recent weeks so preference is for the Pies who are playing at home and that might be the telling factor.
Geelong 1.05 v Fremantle 10.00
TIP - Margin Geelong 1-39 @ 3.00
Two losses on the trot now for the Cats after they went down in last weeks game against the Hawks 71-60, trailing by 26 going into the last term Geelong made a fight of it in the last quarter but the deficit was too much to claw back.
With the Power and the Demons also losing above them they are still only four points adrift of 7th place so if they can win their last two fixtures they still have a chance of climbing back into the top eight.
Fremantle after losing their last three got back to winning ways last week defeating Carlton at home 101-72 but they were made to work for the points having to come from 13 points behind at the half time break.
In the second half it was all the Dockers as they kicked away in the third term scoring seven goals and keeping the Blues to only two minor scores and in doing so put the game to bed.
Verdict - Must win for the Cats if they are to have any chance of playing finals footy this season, they should be good enough at home to dispatch the Dockers and keeps their hopes alive.
GWS 1.71 v Sydney 2.15
TIP - Margin Sydney 1-24 @ 3.60 - BEST BET
GWS made it five wins from their last five last week beating the Crows in a hard fought contest 106-92 at the UNSW Canberra Oval, the game was in the balance at three quarter time but two quick goals in the last term gave the Giants a match winning lead.
With so many injuries the Giants will find it tough in the remaining games this season but they proved last week they have the strength in depth within their squad to still win against solid teams but more may be needed here.
The Swans made it back to back wins last week when defeating the Demons, a slow start from the Swans saw them go in 11 points behind at quarter time but they dominated the remaining three terms on their way to a 87-78 victory.
The win sees them move up to 6th on the ladder level with the Hawks who are sat in 4th, with eight points the difference between them and 9th place Geelong they know one more win will see them safe in the top eight.
Verdict - Should be a cracker this one against the two Sydney based sides and it could go either way, preference is for the Swans with GWS carrying an injury ridden squad into this game.
Gold Coast 4.35 v Brisbane 1.22
TIP - Margin Brisbane 1-39 @ 2.10
Gold Coast suffered their 16th loss of the season last week when they were brushed aside by Richmond 125-51 up at the Metricon Stadium keeping them 17th on the ladder with only Carlton behind them.
The Suns kept within range after the first term trailing by only 15 points but as every quarter played out the Tigers advantage increased condemning the Suns to another embarrassing loss this term.
Brisbane made a game of it against Collingwood last week but not for the first time this season could not reproduce their first half effort in the second and suffered their fourth loss on the bounce.
The third term was the turning point with the Pies kicking 6.7 to the Lions 3.0 after the Lions trailed by three points at half time ending all hopes of a Lions victory.
Verdict - The Lions have shown enough this season to suggest they may well be a team on the up come next year, they should have too much about them for the Suns.
St Kilda 5.00 v Hawthorn 1.18
TIP - Margin Hawthorn 40+ @ 2.10
Four losses on the spin now for the Saints after losing last weeks clash against the Bombers at the Etihad 122-79, the game was tight until the last five minutes of the second term when Essendon changed gears and scored four quick goals putting the game to bed.
Only four wins and a draw for the Saints in 2018 so back to the drawing board in 2019 in a bid to challenge the top eight and play finals football next year.
Hawthorn made it four from four when they beat the Cats last week and in doing so they climbed up too fourth on the ladder in the process, the Hawks cam from behind after being held to only four behinds in the first term but five second term goals put the in the ascendancy and they never relinquished the lead thereafter.
The Hawks have secured finals football the question remains though can they finish in the top four, two other teams sit on 52 points with them so two more wins will be needed you would think.
Verdict - Has to be the Hawks here, should win and win well against the struggling Saints.
Sunday 19th August 2018
Carlton 4.35 v Western Bulldogs 1.22
TIP - Margin Western Bullodgs 1-39 @ 2.10
After another loss last week Carlton will almost certainly finish bottom of the ladder this year and to be honest they deserve it as they have been poor throughout.
They did give the Dockers a game last weekend going in at half time 12 points to the good but they fell away in the second half eventually losing 101-72
The Western Bulldogs claimed their 7th win of the season last week after defeating North Melbourne 92-85 after staging a comeback in the second half after trailing by 28 at half time.
The third term saw the Doggies produce an 8.2 third term to put them five points clear going into the last term and they held their advantage to record a memorable win.
Verdict - Should be only one winner here with the Bulldogs coming into this off the back of two victories.
West Coast 1.63 v Melbourne 2.30 - BEST BET
TIP - Margin West Coast 1-39 @ 2.05
West Coast kept their hopes of finishing top spot on the ladder by beating the Power 62-58 on the road last week down at the Adelaide Oval in a pulsating affair after trailing for the majority of the game.
A late Jeremy McGovern goal after the siren was the difference between the two teams giving the Eagles four valuable points in a game that looked like they would come away with nothing.
Melbourne after winning two straight went into last weeks game against the Swans as firm favourites and a victory looked likely midway through the second term when the Demons went 19 points clear but the Swans kicked six unanswered goals to take a 14 point lead into the half time break.
More of the same in the third term from the Swans gave them a 28 point lead at three quarter time and although the Demons charged home it was not enough, that loss sees the Demons slip out of the top four down to 7th on the ladder.
Verdict - With the Eagles at home I expect them to take the points here but it will be a tough match and Melbourne could well spring the upset if they get off to a good start.
Adelaide 1.40 v North Melbourne 3.00
TIP - Margin Adelaide 1-24 @ 3.10
Last weeks loss against the Giants ended any hopes the Crows had of finishing in the top eight this season and after last years exploits reaching the grand final they will consider this season as a big failure and wonder what went wrong.
The game ended 106-92 after the Crows took a slight advantage into the first half break but it was all GWS in the second half condemning Adelaide to their tenth loss of the season.
After collapsing in dramatic fashion last week against the Bulldogs at home the Kangaroos are almost certain to miss the finals this season.
The game looked all but over at half time with North taking a 28 point lead into the break but the second half was a different story as the Bulldogs kicked 8.2 in the third term to take the lead by five, they would hold on in a close fought final term.
Verdict - Must win for North but this will be tough, preference is for the home team in a close game.
