Port Adelaide 1.54 v Essendon 2.45

TIP - Margin Essendon 1-24 @ 3.00

A must win game for the Power last week against the Pies after losing their last two but it was not the result they had hoped for going down 115-64, the game was in the balance after three quarters but the Pies stormed clear in the final term kicking seven goals to Port's one.

That defeat which was the Power's fourth in five games sees them slip out of the top eight, they need to win here and hope a miracle occurs and the Suns beat the Cats if they are to keep their season alive due to the Cats having a far superior percentage record.

The Bombers slim finals hopes came to an end last week when they were beaten by the Tigers 81-73, the game could have gone either way at half time with the Bombers trailing by eight but the Tigers were too strong in the second half and took the four points, they can technically still climb to 8th but they would need a miracle.

A disappointing season for Essendon who were expected to make the top eight before proceedings got underway, they will however take some confidence in the way they have turned things around after a poor start to the year.

Verdict - The game could go either way but with the Power out of sorts preference is for the Bombers who have finished the season off strongly.

Geelong 1.01 v Gold Coast 17.00

TIP Margin Geelong 40+ @ 1.12

The Cats easily brushed aside the Dockers last week in their must win game 158-25 and with the Power losing the Cats now find themselves in 8th on the ladder with only one game to go.

Geelong have the better percentage record and they will know a win of any kind here will be enough for them to advance into the finals.

The Suns took on the Lions in their last home game of the season last weekend and although they lost the tie it was one of their better efforts since winning their opening two fixtures.

It was a tense affair throughout and could have gone either way going into the last term but it was their Queensland rivals who took the spoils overcoming a nine point deficit in the final term.

Verdict - Must win game for the Cats if they are to stay in the top eight, couldn't have hoped for an easier last game and they should win with ease.

Richmond 1.12 v Western Bulldogs 6.25

TIP Margin Richmond 1-39 @ 2.45

The Tigers were made to work last week in their clash against the Bombers but in the end their class shone through and they took the four points with a gritty 81-73 victory.

That win and the fact the Eagles lost their match assures the Tigers will finish top of the ladder and they will hope to convert their outstanding season into back to back flags in the coming weeks.

The Doggies made it three on the bounce last week when beating Carlton at the Etihad and in doing so moved up a place to 13th on the ladder.

The Blues made them work throughout but a later surge in the final term by the Doggies who kicked four quick goals did the trick and put the game to bed.

Verdict - The Tigers have been the best team all season and I expect them to win this with something in hand, roll on the finals Tigers fans!!

Fremantle 5.25 v Collingwood 1.16

TIP Margin Collingwood 40+ @ 2.15

The Dockers have had some poor results this season but last weeks defeat against the Cats was possibly their worst effort of the season.

The game finished 158-25 and it could have been worth for Fremantle had the Cats had a better day in front of goal, last game of a poor season for the WA side.

Collingwood maintained their spot in the top four by beating Port Adelaide last week in convincing fashion at the MCG, after a slow start the Pies soon got their heads in front and they never looked back thereafter.

The pressure is still on the Pies with several teams still vying for a top four birth but another win here will see them safe from the chasing pack.

Verdict - Collingwood should win this and win well, they need the points to finish in the top four on the ladder so they will not be taking the game lightly.

Carlton 8.00 v Adelaide 1.08

TIP Margin Adelaide 1-39 @ 2.55

Carlton suffered their 19th loss of the season last weekend when they were defeated 66-49 by the Western Bulldogs but they did put up a fight which is something they haven't done for most of the season.

The Blues took the lead early in the final term but could not hold onto their advantage as the Doggies pilled on the pressure, the only thing Carlton will be taking away from a poor 2018 season will be the wooden spoon.

Adelaide made it three wins from their last five with a narrow 86-77 victory over North Melbourne down at the Adelaide Oval after dominating the game throughout.

A late surge from the Kangaroo's who kicked four unanswered goals to set up a nail bighting finish but Eddie Betts took a brilliant mark late in the game and kicked the goal that secured the four points for the Crows.

Verdict - Should be only one winner here, the Crows can finish a poor season off by beating Carlton on the road.

Sydney 1.55 v Hawthorn 2.45

TIP Margin Hawthorn 1-24 @ 3.90

The Swans made it three wins on the trot last weekend when beating the Giants 80-60 and moved up too 5th on the ladder in the process, Buddy Franklin was in fine form finishing with a haul of 5.4 upfront.

The Swans had to chase the game throughout and went into the final term 12 points adrift but a stunning last quarter saw them pull clear to take the points.

Hawthorn made it five on the spin last weekend but they were made to work for the four points against a Saints team who played above their station throughout the match.

The game finished 80-76 and was close throughout, the Hawks didn't kick a goal in the last term but they managed to hold the Saints off with some fine defending.

Verdict - With both the Swans and the Hawks sat on 56 points a win for either team secures a top four birth so all to play for in this crucial last game of the regular season, slight preference is for the Hawks to extend their winning run to six.

Brisbane 2.55 v West Coast 1.50 - BEST BET

TIP Margin West Coast 1-39 @ 2.05

Brisbane recorded their fifth win of the season when beating the Suns last week 78-74 in a real derby classic, Dayne Beams starred for the Lions notching up 38 disposals and 9 clearances in his man of the match display.

That win sees them move up one spot on the ladder to 15th and while the season has been poor on the whole they have shown enough to suggest they may well challenge for a top eight birth next season.

West Coast's aspirations of finishing top of the ladder came to an end with last weeks defeat against the Demons, the game could have gone either way at the death but it was the Demons who prevailed kicking the last three goals of the game.

The Eagles have had a fine season and they will want to finish it off with a win to claim second spot on the ladder, a loss may well see the Pies move above them so all to play for here.

Verdict - The Lions will make it tough but the Eagles have been a class act all season and should get over the line here.

Melbourne 1.55 v GWS 2.45

TIP Margin Melbourne 25+ @ 2.45

Melbourne after their narrow loss in round 21 against the Swans new they had to win last weeks clash against the Eagles to stay in contention with the teams above them, in a thrilling match the Demons scored the last three goals of the game to win 108-91.

A win here will assure the Demons finals footy but more than likely even a loss will see them play on this season due to their superior percentage record against the Power who are in 9th.

The Giants injury hit team could not contain the Swans in the second half of last weeks clash and went down 80-60 after leading by 15 points at the break.

That loss threw away any chance of them finishing in the top four but they are assured a top eight spot and finals footy win lose or draw here.

Verdict - Should be a really good game and either team can win if they put their best foot forward but preference is for the Demons with GWS carrying so many injuries.

St Kilda 4.00 v North Melbourne 1.25

TIP Margin North Melbourne 1-39 @ 2.05 - BEST BET

The Saints put in possibly their best effort of the season last week against the Hawks and while the lost the game 80-76 they will take many positives from their performance and hope to replicate this week.

Always chasing the game St Kilda never once threw in the towel and kept coming forward right until the final whistle, the same effort here may well see them win their fifth game of the season.

North Melbourne suffered their second loss in as many weeks and in doing so said goodbye to any chance they had of playing finals footy in 2018.

After a close first quarter the game against Adelaide got away from North in the second term when the Crows kicked 4.5 to their 0.2 to take a 28 point lead into half time, North rallied late on but the damage was already done.

Verdict - They will miss the finals but North will want to finish off on a high note and should have enough to dispatch the Saints.
