EPL Fixtures Round 38 2018 Previews and Tips
MONDAY 14TH MAY 2018
Burnley v Bournemouth
Home 2-08 - Draw 3.15 - Away 3.45
Under 2.5 Goals @ 1.73
Nothing to play for here, Burnley have had an incredible season qualifying for the Europa League prelims while Bournemouth have done their job and staved off relegation.
Verdict - Both teams come into this with stuttering form so the draw may well be the best option.
Swansea v Stoke
Home 1.69 - Draw 3.45 - Away 4.75
Under 2.5 Goals @ 1.71
After their midweek loss at home to relegation rivals Southampton Swansea have an uphill task to stay in the Premier League and have to rely on other results.
Swansea after Huddersfield drew will Chelsea midweek are almost certainly down, they will have to beat Stoke here by a decent margin and hope Man City put five or six past the Saints due to their nine goal inferior goal difference.
Stoke are already relegated but they will want to go out with a bang and they will do the professional thing and play to win here with what is at stake for the other teams involved at the bottom.
No win in six for Stoke and like Swansea a lack of goals in recent weeks has cost them dear.
Verdict - Both these teams can't buy a goal so you would expect it to be a low scoring affair and a draw looks likely.
Man Utd v Watford
Home 1.18 - Draw 6.60 - Away 11.00
Under 3.5 Goals @ 1.74
Nothing to play for here with Man Utd safe in second place despite their loss away at Brighton last week while Watford are safe from the drop.
Verdict - Man Utd will want to go out with a bang in front of their home support and they should have enough to take the three points.
Newcastle v Chelsea
Home 5.80 - Draw 3.85 - Away 1.53
Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.94
Newcastle after a up and down season have secured their place in the Premier League for next season which for them is job done after being promoted last year.
Three losses on the trot will not be what they wanted in the run in but they won't be too upset as it has not done them any harm.
Chelsea could still possibly snatch fourth place so they will no doubt field their strongest eleven for this.
Chelsea are currently two points behind Liverpool with an inferior goal difference of fifteen so in reality they need the Reds to lose and a win here.
The Blues could also get into the Champions league through the back door if Liverpool win the Champions League final.
Verdict - More on the line for Chelsea potentially so preference is for them in a must win game for the Blues.
Tottenham v Leicester
Home 1.17 - Draw 6.60 - Away 13.00
Over 3.5 Goals @ 2.10
Spurs after their win midweek against Newcastle are now guaranteed a spot in the top four even if they lose here but they will still want to go out with a bang in front of their home support.
Leicester after losing four of their last five and are shipping a bucket load of goals too boot bounced back to form midweek when they beat Arsenal 3-1 to give them the slightest chance of catching Everton for possibly the last Euro place depending on Liverpool winning the Champions League.
A must win game for the Foxes but they will also have to hope Everton either lose or draw due to their superior goal difference.
Verdict - Tough ask for Leicester to get a win here and preference has to be for Spurs.
Huddersfield v Arsenal
Home 4.40 - Draw 3.85 - Away 1.67 - BEST BET
Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.64
Huddersfield after travelling to Stamford Bridge midweek and coming away with a priceless point are now safe from the drop so all the pressure is off this game.
Arsenal although playing for nothing will want to give their manager of 22 years a good send off in his last game.
Arsene Wenger changed the clubs fortunes when he too over and he will be remembered as one of the greatest of all time for his achievements and they will want to honour that with a victory.
Verdict - Nothing to play for now for the home side so Arsenal may well send Wenger off win a win in his last game in charge.
Liverpool v Brighton
Home 1.13 - Draw 7.00 - Away 18.00
Over 3.5 Goals @ 2.08
Liverpool still need at least a point to be sure of a fourth place finish so they will be revved up for this game in front of their home crowd.
A win will guarantee a Champions League spot while a draw will most likely be enough due to their far better goal difference against Chelsea
Brighton are safe for another year after last weeks home win against Man Utd
Verdict - Liverpool score for fun and should put a few past Brighton, expect another high scoring game from the Reds.
West Ham v Everton
Home 2.32 - Draw 3.25 - Away 2.84
Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.84
Both teams safe for this season but both teams have had turbulent seasons with managerial changes due to under performing.
Everton could still qualify for Europe if their arch rivals Liverpool win the Champions League final so all to play for and they may well need to win this with Leicester on their tails.
Verdict - Everton come into the game unbeaten in five so slight preference is for them to take the spoils.
Crystal Palace v West Brom
Home 1.73 - Draw 3.60 - Away 4.25
Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.84
Unbeaten in their last five games Palace have climbed up to 11th in the table and can breathe a sigh of relief as they staved off relegation.
After five games unbeaten and a chance of survival West Brom were relegated midweek when Southampton beat Swansea so nothing to play for here now other than pride.
Verdict - Both teams have finished the season off well but preference is for Palace to take the points, eight goals in their last two home games is not to be sniffed at.
Southampton v Man City
Home 6.20 - Draw 4.70 - Away 1.40
Under 3.5 Goals @ 1.58 - BEST BET
After their win away at Swansea midweek the Saints are virtually safe due to their superior goal difference and more likely than not they will survive.
They carry a nine goal advantage into this so I would be surprised to see them do anything other than play tight and not take any chances.
Man City have already won the league so it will be interesting to see what squad they play here with what is at stake for other clubs but then again City's second string are as good as most teams best squad so rotation is not really a worry.
Verdict - Southampton will be hard to breakdown but Man City should still take the points.
