THURSDAY 16TH MAY 2019

Storm 1.26 v Wests Tigers 3.70

TIP - Over 39.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Storm 13+ @ 2.05 - BEST BET

Melbourne crushed the Eels 64-10 at Suncorp Stadium last weekend running in eleven tries in the process, two tries apiece for Cameron Munster and Josh Addo-Carr in the brutal victory got the Storm back to winning ways after their narrow defeat in round 8.

Their form has been a bit in and out in recent weeks but if they keep playing at that standard they will surely challenge for top spot in the coming weeks.

Wests Tigers bounced back last weekend comfortably beating the Panthers 30-4 after losing heavily the previous week on the road against the Roosters, four tries in the opening ten minutes set them on their way and they never looked back.

They now sit 6th on the ladder only one win outside the top four but they will have to be at their very best if they are to take anything from this, 110% needed from each man if they are to upset the apple-cart.

Verdict - After last weeks rout against the Eels it is hard to look past a Storm victory here, reproduce last weeks effort and they win well once again.

FRIDAY 17TH MAY 2019

Panthers 1.67 v Warriors 2.15

TIP - Under 38.5 Points @ 1.88 - BEST BET

TIP - Warriors 1-12 @ 3.35

Five losses on the spin now for the Panthers after they suffered another heavy defeat last week this time at the hands of the Wests Tigers at Suncorp Stadium, Penrith conceded four tries in the opening ten minutes and as they say "that's all's she wrote".

With only two wins from their opening nine games they find themselves six points adrift of the top eight and quickly staring down the barrel of the end of their season, must win game for them here.

Once again the Warriors are looking like a better team at home than on the road (not for the first time) although they bounced back last week beating the Dragons 26-18 after going behind early doors in a home game played at Suncorp Stadium.

The Warriors are technically 0-4 on the road this season not counting last weeks Magic Round game and they will have to turn things around on their travels if they are to compete with the top 8 come the latter stages of the competition.

Verdict - It's one of those games that home advantage should play a huge part especially as the Warriors cannot buy a win on the road but they showed grit last weekend in Brisbane and they are worth a punt at decent odds.

Broncos 2.70 v Roosters 1.45 - BEST BET

TIP - Under 42.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Roosters 1-12 @ 2.90

After suffering a heavy defeat in round 8 against the Rabbitohs the Broncos got things back on track last week at Suncorp Stadium defeating the Eagles 26-10, the game was tied at half time but the Broncos quickly asserted themselves in the second half to run out comfortable winners.

With only three wins from their opening nine fixtures the Broncos will have to keep winning if they are to have any chance of keeping pace with the top 8, tough ask here against the leaders but they are a tough nut to crack on home turf.

The Roosters made it five wins on the bounce last weekend up at Suncorp Stadium in the Magic Round but they were made to work for the two points against the Raiders after taking a commanding lead in the first half.

Sydney went into the interval with a comfortable 24-6 lead but and quickly extended their advantage after the break but the plucky Raiders never gave up and after to getting to within six points with ten minutes to go the Roosters looked rattled but they held on for the win.

Verdict - The Broncos haven't been at their best this season so preference is for the away team in a tight contest.

SATURDAY 18TH MAY 2019

Titans 1.63 v Bulldogs 2.25

TIP - Over 38.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Titans 13+ @ 3.30

Three defeats on the bounce now for the Titans after they lost once again last week 26-18 against the Sharks, Gold Coast look on course for a much needed victory at half time holding a 18-10 lead at the interval but their second half display didn't live up to the first 40 minutes and they lost the game 26-18.

Only two wins from their opening nine games sees the Gold Coast languishing down in 14th on the ladder six points adrift of eighth place, a must win game if they are going to challenge for a playoff birth come the end of the season.

Canterbury suffered their second straight defeat in the Magic Round up at Suncorp Stadium last weekend going down 22-10 against the Knights, the Bulldogs trailed 16-0 at half time and while they put in a better effort in the second half they never looked like getting back into the game.

As with their opposition they have only amassed two wins this season and are sat at the foot of the ladder, a must win game for them too here if they are to have any chance of dragging themselves up the table.

Verdict - Gold Coast are 2-2 at home this season and with the Bulldogs struggling it may well pay to back the home team here but I wouldn't be putting the house on this one.

Cowboys 1.73 v Eels 2.05

TIP - Under 40 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Eels 1-12 @ 3.20

After defeating the Titans in round 8 the Cowboys had a tougher assignment last week in the Magic Round facing a rampant Rabbitohs side and true to form they were no match for the high flying Sydney outfit going down 32-16.

Although they sit down in 13th on the ladder the Cowboys with a win here could move up several places depending on other results this weekend and they will need the two points with a trip to the Raiders following this encounter.

Parramatta went into last weeks contest full of confidence after beating the Dragons in round 8 but they were no match for a rampant Melbourne who gave them a good thrashing to say the least running in 11 tires on their way to a 64-10 victory.

The Eels are still in the top 8 but lost a little ground on the teams above them, they will need to bounce back here if they are to stay in the last playoff spot with the Knights and the Dragons only two points adrift.

Verdict - Could go either way and will no doubt be a close run thing, beware the wounded soldier, the Eels for me at decent odds.

Raiders 2.15 v Rabbitohs 1.67

TIP - Over 41.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Raiders 1-12 @ 3.35

The Raiders and the Roosters squared up last week up at Suncorp Stadium in what looked to be the tie of the round on papaer and both teams didn't disappoint with the Raiders eventually losing out 30-24.

The Raiders after a poor first half took the game to the ladder toppers in the second half and while they had left themselves too much to do they will take a huge positive out of the defeat with the manner they finished the game.

South's kept pace with their Sydney counterparts last week beating the Cowboys 32-16 to record their fifth win on the spin, Sam Burgess got them off to a good start scoring after 10 minutes and two more quick tries put the game pretty much out of reach.

The Rabbitohs will know that this will be tougher on the road to the Raiders and they will need to be at their best if they are to come away with a win against a team that is 4-1 at home this season.

Verdict - Should be a good match this one, preference is for the home team at decent odds but it could well go the other way!

SUNDAY 19TH MAY 2019

Dragons 1.70 v Knights 2.10

TIP - Under 40.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Dragons 1-12 @ 2.80

Three losses on the bounce now for the Dragons after losing again last week this time at the hands of the Warriors 26-18 in the Magic Round up at Suncorp Stadium, St George got off to a flyer scoring twice in the opneing ten minutes and took what looked like a match winning lead into half time with the Warriors trailing 18-6 but they fell apart in the second half conceding three tries and failing to score a single point themselves.

With those three losses the Dragons have slipped out of the top eight and down to 10th, no need to panic yet but they will need to steady the ship soon.

The Knights made light work of the Bulldogs last week after getting out of the starting blocks early scoring three first half tries and they took a commanding 16-0 lead into the interval, although their opposition made a fight of it in the second half the Knights never looked in real danger.

Newcastle come into this game sat just above the Dragons having won four games also and they will want to put a bit of daylight between the two teams with a good result here.

Verdict - Toss of a coin this one, should be low scoring and tight, slight preference is for the Dragons on home soil.

Sharks 1.50 v Sea Eagles 2.52

TIP - Under 39.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Sharks 1-12 @ 2.90

Cronulla after their gritty win against the Storm in round 8 made it back to back wins last weekend when they overturned an 18-10 half time deficit against the Titans to run out 26-18 winners.

The Sharks sit 7th on the ladder only one win off the Raiders in fourth so they will be looking to extend their winning streak to three here in a bid to chase down the teams above them.

Manly couldn't extend their winning streak to three against the Broncos last weekend eventually going down 26-10 at Suncorp Stadium, the game was tied at 6-6 at half time but Brisbane quickly took the lead in the second half and Manly were always under the pump thereafter.

The Sea Eagles still find themselves in 5th on the ladder and a win here could well see them move up to fourth with the Raiders having a tough assignment against the Rabbitohs.

Verdict - The Sharks are usually value for money on home turf so preference is for them to take the spoils but the Eagles are decent odds and may well come out on top.
