THURSDAY 23RD MAY 2019

Eels 1.48 v Panthers 2.55

TIP - Under 38.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Eels 1-12 @ 2.90

After getting a good shellacking in round 9 against the Storm the Eels had another tough assignment last weekend travelling North to face the Cowboys, although Parramatta went down 17-10 they certainly put in a better shift in that defeat than the one prior.

None the less two straight defeats for the Eels has seen them love valuable ground against the top four, they still cling onto 8th on the ladder but with five teams now in striking distance they need to find that winning formula once again.

Penrith suffered their fifth defeat on the bounce last weekend when they went down tamely against Wests Tigers 30-10 art Panthers Stadium against the Warriors, the Panthers where never in the game after the twenty minute mark and at 14-0 down at half time they looked a beaten team once again.

A couple of late tries saved face but that will be no consolation to them sitting at the foot of the table, time is running out for Penrith to save their season, a must win game this one for them.

Verdict - Two teams needing a win for different reasons after struggling of late, preference is for the Eels to get back to winning ways.

FRIDAY 24TH MAY 2019

Sea Eagles 1.49 v Titans 2.55 - BEST BET

TIP - Under 42 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Sea Eagles 13+ @ 2.75

Manly bounced back from their defeat against the Broncos in round 9 to record a hard fought victory last weekend against the Sharks 24-14 at PointsBet Stadium, Manly opened the scoring inside ten minutes and ran in another two tries inside the first half to take a commanding 18-4 lead into the interval.

The Sea Eagles put the game to bed just after the restart when Dylan Walker crossed the chalk to ensure they kept the pressure on the top four and another win here could well see them move up to 4th depending on the Raiders result.

Gold Coast suffered another defeat last weekend against the Bulldogs which was their fourth on the spin and they now find themselves down to 15th on the ladder after their opponents leapfrogged above them.

The game was tight throughout and at the interval the Titans held the advantage at 16-12 but two tries for the visitors inside the last twenty minutes did the damage and condemned the Titans to their 8th loss of the season

Verdict - I think the Sea Eagles will be too strong for the visiting Titans here, if they get their heads out in front early it could be a very long day for the Queensland team.

Knights 2.75 v Roosters 1.42

TIP - Over 40 Points @ 1.88 - BEST BET

TIP - Knights 1-12 @ 4.00

Newcastle are putting a nice little run together, they have now won four on the bounce after last weeks demolition of the Dragons at Glen Willow Oval coming away with the two points in fine fashion after a 45-12 victory.

That win sees the Knights move up to 6th on the ladder and they are now in striking distance of the top four, tough ask here against the Roosters but if they play like they did last week then they are quite capable of extending their winning streak to five.

Sydney suffered their first defeat in five games last weekend when they came unstuck against the Broncos up at Suncorp Stadium eventually losing a tight affair 15-10, with the scores ties at the interval at 8-8 the Roosters struggled to find that killer pass in the second half and were kept to a solitary penalty goal.

The defeat sees the Roosters fall two places down to 3rd on the ladder so they will want to turn things around this weekend and put pressure on the teams now above them, tough ask though against the Knights who are flying at the moment.

Verdict - This may well be the game of the round, I expect plenty of tries from both teams, at decent odds the Knights for me but it will come as no surprise if the Roosters bounce back.

SATURDAY 25TH MAY 2019

Raiders 1.50 v Cowboys 2.50

TIP - Over 40 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Raiders 13+ @ 2.85

After losing to the Roosters in round 9 the Raiders had another tough assignment last weekend taking on the Rabbitohs and once again they fell a little short losing a close run game 16-12, the game was more of a tactical affair with both teams struggling to break down their opponents and a late Rabbitohs try was the deciding factor.

Canberra remain inside the top four but they are now six points adrift of top spot so they will not want to make it three loses in as many games here, home advantage is a huge plus for them and they need to make it count.

The Cowboys got back to winning ways last weekend defeating the Eels 17-10 up at 1300SMILES Stadium thanks to second half tries from Kyle Feldt and Tom Opacic.

They are not the force they once but they still have enough about them to figure this season if they put their best foot forward, they only need to put a few decent performances together to figure but this one will be a tough ask.

Verdict - Canberra have put in two decent efforts against good teams without reward and the same sort of performance here on home turf should be enough to win this comfortably.

Warriors 1.83 v Broncos 1.93

TIP - Under 39.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Broncos 1-12 @ 3.05

The Warriors took full advantage of facing an out of form Panthers last weekend on the road coming away with an easy 30-10 victory making it back to back wins for the New Zealand outfit.

The recent turn around in form sees them move up to 10th on the ladder and if they can win here they will be right back in the hunt to play finals footy this season, they will need to be at their best though with the tough Broncos visiting.

The Broncos made it back to back wins last weekend when they defeated the Roosters 15-10 at Suncorp Stadium, a late James Segeyaro try was enough to secure the two points in a tight run affair and after a poor start to the season they look to be picking up a little momentum.

Brisbane now find themselves up to 11th on the ladder and right in the thick of things as you would have expected when the season began, they will want to look to extend their winning run here.

Verdict - Could go either way this one, the Warriors are always tough to beat at home but slight preference is for the Broncos after two gritty wins.

Rabbitohs 1.35 v Wests Tigers 3.10

TIP - Over 42.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Rabbitohs 1-12 @ 2.90

Six wins on the spin now for the Bunnies after they came through a tough test against the Raiders 16-12 last weekend at GIO Stadium, the game could have gone either way but a late Mawene Hiroti try just got the Rabbitohs over the line to secure the two points.

With that win and the Roosters losing the Bunnies now sit top of the ladder and they will not want to relinquish that spot without a fight, some tough assignments in the next few weeks but they are more than up for the challenge.

Wests put up a valiant effort against the Storm last weekend on the road but eventually went down 24-22 late in the day, they will be a little disappointed with the result after leading at the interval and holding the advantage with only minutes to spare.

With several teams around them all losing also they remain in 7th on the ladder so not too much damage done, they will need to be at their best once again this weekend if they are to contain the Bunnies and have any chance here.

Verdict - The Rabbitohs are grinding out wins even when they are not at their best and I feel they will get the better of the visitors here in a close run affair.

SUNDAY 26TH MAY 2019

Bulldogs 3.40 v Storm 1.30

TIP - Under 40 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Storm 1-12 @ 3.00

Canterbury got back to winning ways last weekend when they defeated the Titans 16-12 at Cbus Super Stadium, trailing at half time 16-12 the visitors managed to turn things around in the second half thanks to tries from Jayden Okunbor and Jack Cogger.

A much needed victory for the Bulldogs but they will need more of the same if they are to mount a challenge this season, not ideal opponents this week with the inform Storm coming to town but at least they go into the match with some much needed confidence.

Melbourne after doing as they liked in round 9 against the Eels had a much harder time of things last weekend against Wests Tigers but a late Will Chambers try was enough to secure a comeback victory 24-22.

The Storm are hot on the tails of the Bunnies in second on the ladder and they will want to extend their recent run of form here, if they put their best foot forward they should have too much in the locker for the home team.

Verdict - Melbourne should take the two points but I think the Bulldogs will give them a run for their money throughout, away win for me!

Dragons 1.88 v Sharks 1.88

TIP - Under 40 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Dragons 1-12 @ 2.90 - BEST BET

The Dragons are a team struggling and that was more evident in last weeks 45-12 defeat against Newcastle than we have seen in previous recent losses, four losses on the bounce now for St George does not look good for the NSW team.

The slip to 12th on the ladder but with only one win separating 6th -13th in an open season they will still feel they are in the mix, they need to turn things around quickly and this is a perfect opportunity for them to do so on home turf.

Cronulla after two decent efforts in recent weeks hosted the Sea Eagles last weekend in a bid to make it three consecutive wins but they were unable to keep their momentum going losing out 24-14 at PointsBet Stadium.

Still in contention sat 9th on the ladder they will know a win here might see them move up a couple of spots back into the top eight, they have some decent recent form but they will have to be better than last week if they are to figure.

Verdict - Will no doubt be a tactical low scoring affair this one, could go either way but slight preference is for the Dragons to come out on top.
