Cowboys 2.20 v Broncos 1.68

TIP - Over 41.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Broncos 1-12 @ 2.80

Another loss for the Cowboys last week but they did put up one of their better efforts of the season losing narrowly away to the Roosters 26-20 in a hard fought battle at Allianz Stadium.

Trailing 16-8 at half time the Cowboys conceded two quick tries in the second half but they did reply with two of their own shortly after but it was too little too late.

After a nail biting win against the Sharks in round 21 the Broncos took on the Bulldogs last week in a bid to strengthen their place in the top eight but it was not to be as the Bulldogs swept them aside with a comfortable 36-22 victory.

That loss sees the Broncos remain 7th on the ladder only four points ahead of the Tigers who are their only danger in a bid to finish in the top eight, another loss this week may well get the nerves going for the wrong reason.

Verdict - Always a good game between these two and this one should be no different, I expect the Broncos to take the points in a close run affair.

Warriors 1.37 v Knights 3.10

TIP - Under 43.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Warriors 13+ @ 2.70

The Warriors took on the Dragons on the road last week and managed to come away with the points after dominating the first half and going in at half time 18-0 to the good, the Dragons could only put 12 points on the board in the second half and the game ended 18-12 as the Warriors failed to score in the second term.

A much needed victory for the Warriors last week after losing three of their last four previously, that win gives them a little breathing space with them four points ahead of the Tigers who are sat in 9th place on the ladder, one place behind them.

Newcastle suffered their 12th loss of the season last week and in doing so went their slim hopes of finals football in 2018, the game against the Tigers finished 25-18 in front of a disappointed home crowd at the McDonald Jones Stadium.

Nothing to play for now except pride in their last four outings this season but they will want to finish off strongly and take some momentum into next years competition.

Verdict - Should be a home win for the Warriors but they have been better on the road this season so I wouldn't be that surprised if the Knights upset the apple cart.

Rabbitohs 1.88 v Roosters 1.96

TIP - Under 40.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Rabbitohs 1-12 @ 2.90

South Sydney will come into this full of confidence after lasts weeks 30-20 victory over the Storm, the Bunnies trailed 16-12 at half time but three converted tries in the second half before the Storm could reply put them in control and although the Storm scored a late try the game was safely in the bag for the Bunnies.

That win takes them back to the top of the ladder with only four rounds to go, they will be happy to finish in the top four but they will want to finish top spot none the less so another win here will be a priority.

The Roosters kept the pressure on their local rivals by defeating the Cowboys 26-20 in last weeks clash down at the Allianz Stadium but they were made to work for the two points right until the final whistle.

A win here will see them move level with the Bunnies on 32 points and it would blow the top of the ladder wide open once again but a loss will mean they are four points adrift with only three games to go.

Verdict - Might well be the game of the round with both teams looking to finish top of the ladder this year, slight preference is for the Rabbitohs but this one could go either way.

Saturday 11th August 2018

Titans 2.85 v Panthers 1.40

TIP - Under 46.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Panthers 1-12 @ 2.90

The Titans suffered their 13th loss of the season last week going down to the Eels 28-12 in possible one of their worst performances of the season, things looked promising after Phillip Sami put them 8-6 up after 22 minutes but that was as good as it got for the Queensland side as the Eels upped their game.

Once again not the best season for the Titans who are sat 12th on the ladder with nothing to play for in their remaining four matches.

Penrith took full advantage by winning last week as their closest rivals the Sharks and the Broncos both lost their respective games and climb up to 5th on the ladder still with the top four in sight being just four points behind top spot.

A win this week would put real pressure on the four teams above them and with some favourable match ups for them this week at worst a win here for the Panthers would see them cement their place in the top six.

Verdict - Penrith need to win this one and they should be too good for the Titans who have lost four of their last five.

Sea Eagles 1.64 v Bulldogs 2.25

TIP - Under 43.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Bulldogs 1-12 @ 3.40

After three straight losses the Sea Eagles finally got back to winning ways last week when they defeated the Raiders by one point 33-32 in a thriller at the Southern Cross Group Stadium.

With the game tied in the last minute it was left to Daly Cherry-Evans to attempt the winning field goal and the State of Origin star didn't disappoint the travelling fans with his effort and in doing so took the two points.

Canterbury claimed their six win of the season last week with a comfortable 36-22 home win against the Broncos thanks to a three try blitz early in the second half.

Nothing more to play for this season for the Bulldogs but they will want to go out with a bang in what has been a tough season for the Sydney based side.

Verdict - Toss of a coin this one but the Bulldogs put in one of their better efforts of the season last week and if the reproduce the same this week can take the two points.

Eels 2.75 v Dragons 1.45

TIP - Over 41.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Dragons 13+ @ 2.75 - BEST BET

A 28-12 win last week for the Eels sees them move level with the Cowboys on 12 points at the foot of the ladder and while they are still on the bottom they could move off the bottom if they can snag another two points this week.

The season for Parramatta has been one to forget being stuck at the foot of the ladder for so much of it but if they can finish off strong then they will not only avoid the wooden spoon but they will feel there is better to come next year.

The Dragons suffered somewhat of a shock defeat in last weeks clash against the Warriors at home going down 18-12 after they were held scoreless in the first half, a better effort in the second period gave them a sniff after scoring two quick tries but they couldn't find the line in the remaining half hour.

That loss sees them slip four points behind the Rabbitohs at the top but more of a concern will be the fact that they are in serious danger of slipping outside the top four after losing four of their last five games.

Verdict - The Dragons should win this one but they are not at their best at the minute which is a real concern and it may well open the door for an upset!!

Sunday 12th August 2018

Raiders 1.55 v West Tigers 2.50

TIP - Under 46.5 Points @ 1.88 - BEST BET

TIP - Raiders 13+ @ 3.00

Canberra are resigned to missing out on finals football this season after losing a try-fest last week against the Panthers 40-31, things were looking good at half time for the Raiders with them taking a 26-12 lead in to the break but it was all the Panthers in the second half as they ran in five tries.

Not for the first time this season the Raiders let a win slip from their fingertips, they are just not the best at closing out games when they get in front hence them missing out on the top eight.

The Tigers kept their hopes of finals football alive last week by beating the Knights 28-18 on the road and with the Broncos and the Sharks losing they find themselves only four points adrift of three teams who reside in the top eight.

They have a tough assignment if they are to get the points needed having to play the Dragons and Rabbitohs in the coming weeks but at their best they are capable of getting the points needed.

Verdict - The Raiders will be seething that they lost last week and they may well take it out on the Tigers here with the same attacking prowess and a better defensive effort after no doubt a week of defensive drills.

Storm 1.50 v Sharks 2.65 - BEST BET

TIP - Over 36.5 Points @ 1.88

TIP - Storm 13+ @ 2.85

The Storm tasted defeat for the first time in five games last week when they lost their top of the ladder match-up against the Rabbitohs 30-20 and in doing so slip down to second on the ladder behind the Bunnies.

Back on home turf this week they will want to get back to winning ways but this is another game that that could prove to be a banana skin for last years champs.

Cronulla after three straight wins suffered defeat last week going down by a single points against the Sea Eagles 31-30 thanks to a last minute field goal by Daly Cherry-Evans.

With them losing and the Tigers winning they are still not assured of a top eight birth so they will want to get back to winning ways this week but against the Storm on the road it will be a tough ask.

Verdict - Melbourne have only lost two from nine at home this season so I expect them to win this one comfortably.
