Things are heating up at the top of the ladder but still the Dragons set the pace out on front, with the Eels winning their home encounter last week against the Tigers the bottom half of the table is quite compact, Two or three wins on the spin could see a team move substantially up the ladder so all to play for. Broncos 1.45 v Bulldogs 2.85

TIP - Over 38.5 Points @ 1.90

TIP - Broncos 13+ @ - 2.75

The Broncos are having an in and out sort of a season and that once again rubber stamped with their 24-20 away win last week against the Rabbitohs. After going in at half time behind the Broncos produced twenty minutes of scintillating football scoring three tries and while they conceded later they held on for the win.

The Broncos will be hoping they can take that form into this fixture with their main aim focusing on consistency, another performance like last week should see them win once again.

The Bulldogs have now lost two on the spin after losing last weeks fixture against the Panthers 22-14, Canterbury went in at half time 12-2 to the good but faded in the second half costing them the chance of victory.

With only four points in the bag this season the Bulldogs are in danger of losing touch with the main pack so a win here is vital for them.

Verdict - Another win for the Broncos looks the likely outcome here and they may well put on a show for their home fans with a sizable win too.

Knights 2.40 v Rabbitohs 1.60

TIP - Over 42.5 Points @ 1.90

TIP - Rabbitohs 13+ @ 2.70

The Knights kept up their solid start to the season with a close fought 18-12 win on the road against the Eagles making it two away wins in as many weeks.

Newcastle sit in 6th place on the ladder on ten points and with home games to come they could potentially find themselves in the top four pretty soon.

South Sydney come into this off the back of a 24-20 loss at home against the Broncos and will want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible and this is a good opportunity to do so for them all be it on the road.

The Rabbitohs sit 7th on the ladder with teams stacking up behind them so they will not want to lose this one and drop out of the top eight.

Verdict - The Rabbitohs will come here and try and make a point after last weeks loss against the Broncos and I expect them to pressure the Knights from the off and take the points.

Panthers 1.83 v Cowboys 2.02

TIP - Over 38 Points @ 1.90

TIP - Panthers 1-12 @ 3.10

Penrith bounced back to winning ways last week after losing their round seven match against the Sharks with a solid come from behind performance against the Bulldogs.

Trailing 12-2 at the half time break the Panthers once again put in a stellar second half performance to eventually take the game 22-14.

The Cowboys poor run of results continued last week losing once again at home this time to the Raiders 18-8 taking their total to three losses from only five games played at home in 2018.

If the Cowboys are to have any chance this season they are going to have to start to win on the road to compensate for their poor home record but having played three and lost three away this season that scenario is looking more and more unlikely

Verdict - The Panthers have already beaten the Cowboys this season and I would expect them to do so once again.

Raiders 1.44 v Titans 2.90 - BEST BET

TIP - Under 45.5 Points @ 1.90

TIP - Raiders 13+ @ 2.40

Canberra after a drumming in round 7 bounced back in style last week beating the Cowboys 18-8 on the road after falling behind early on in the piece.

The Raiders sit 11th on the ladder but they could and should be higher after giving points away early on in the season, if they can string a few of their better efforts together you may well see them rise significantly.

The Titans lost their third game on the spin last week when they were beaten 10-9 at home against the Sharks and they can think themselves unfortunate not to take the points.

Gold Coast threw everything they had at the Sharks in the second half but a superb defensive effort thwarted the Titans and they walked away with nothing.

The Titans should take a few positives out of last weeks loss and if they can repeat last weeks second half efforts here they will be right in the mix.

Verdict - The Raiders should have too much fire power for the Titans here and I expect them to win with something in hand

Warriors 1.57 v Tigers 2.45

TIP - Under 38.5 Points @ 1.90

TIP - Warriors 1-12 @ 3.20

After their impressive start to the season the Warriors were made to look second rate last week as the Storm ripped them apart scoring eight tries in their 50-10 victory.

The Warriors up until last week were unbeaten on the road after winning their first three matches so they will not be too down beat with the result but they will want to put in a better effort here in front of their home support.

The Tigers sit two points behind the Warriors on the ladder after also losing their match last week against the Eels 24-22 in somewhat of an upset against a team who had only won once this year.

Two defeats on the trot now for the Tigers has put a little halt to their impressive campaign this season so they will want to get back to winning ways here.

Verdict - With home advantage I expect the Warriors to do enough to take the points here but it may not be an easy task with the usually stingy Tigers defence.

Sharks 1.72 v Eels 2.18

TIP - Over 36 Points @ 1.90 - BEST BET

TIP - Sharks 1-12 @ 3.00

Cronulla made it back to back wins in round 8 defeating the Titans 10-9 in a nail biter on the road. The Sharks took the lead in the 10th minute and they never relinquished it there after.

Things could have gone either way last week but for the efforts of the Sharks defence, no matter what the Titans threw at them the Sharks held their lines and that was the difference between the two sides on the night.

Parramatta after losing their first six games have suddenly decided they want to be apart of the 2018 season, with their impressive win in round seven against the Eagles spurring them on the Eels went into last weeks game full of confidence and that showed as they took the game to the Tigers.

The game eventually finished 24-22 in the Eels favour with the lead changing hands several times which makes it two on the spin for the resurgent Eels

Verdict - I would think that the Sharks would be too good for the Eels in a low scoring contest but with the Eels now playing better don't disregard them altogether!!

Dragons 1.85 v Storm 2.00

TIP - Under 38.5 Points @ 1.90

TIP - Storm 1-12 @ 3.30

After their defeat against the Warriors in round seven the Dragons got back to winning ways last week making light work of the Roosters winning the game 24-8.

The Dragons got off to the perfect start scoring a try in the first minute and when Ben Hunt went over just before half time the game was always under control.

Melbourne showed they are still a force to be reckoned with last week when they demolished the Warriors 50-10 running in right tries in the process.

That win keeps them in touch with the Dragons only four points adrift in 4th place and a win here would close the gap even further so expect the Storm to come out all guns blazing once again.

Verdict - The tie of the round for me and it could go either way but preference is for the Storm who always seem to be at their best in this type of game.

Roosters 1.30 v Eagles 3.65

TIP - Over 44.5 Points @ 1.90

TIP - Roosters 13+ @ 2.10 - BEST BET

The Roosters got off to the worst possible start last week in their clash against the Dragons conceding a try inside the first minute which put them on the back foot for the rest of the game.

Sydney lost the game 24-8 which enabled the teams behind them to close the gap and while the Roosters sit in the top eight another loss will see them drop a place or two outside the play off places so they need to get back to winning ways here.

Manly's poor form continued last week as they were once again beaten making it four loses on the spin for the Eagles and only four points on the board for 2018.

A home tie against the Knights looked a perfect opportunity to stop the rot but the Eagles once against looked sluggish and eventually went down 18-12.

Verdict - With Manly losing their four away games so far this season you would expect the Roosters to be too strong for them here and it could well be another big loss for the Eagles on the road.
